After several years of membership declines and challenges, the region's two Boy Scouts of America councils are coming together through a merger. Pending final approvals by both sides in February and final approval by the New York state attorney general, the merger will see a consolidation between the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, which covers Erie County and the western portion of Niagara County, and the Iroquois Trail Council, which covers the other half of Niagara County along with Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
