A New Jersey-based environmental service company is expanding its foothold in Western New York with the acquisition of three related companies in Niagara Falls. Covanta has purchased SGS Recovery, Buffalo Fuel Corp. and Frontier Fibers for an undisclosed amount. The three companies were owned by the Santarosa Group, led by G. Aaron Santarosa. Covanta already operates a waste-burning power plant on Energy Boulevard in Niagara Falls and a waste transfer facility nearby on Quarry Road in the Town of Niagara.
